In parallel with the 14th Games of the Small States of Europe, Sports Minister Hugo Quaderer had a meeting in Gamprin with the sports ministers and presidents of the national Olympic committees. In the informal sports ministers conference the officials and decision-makers expressed unanimous support for continuing the Games of the Small States of Europe. Sports Minister Quaderer was pleased with the joint decision: "Continuing the Games of the Small States of Europe gives the right signal for sport here in our country. In this way we give our organisations and associations an important basis and perspective for their work in the future."
Sports officials discussed the future of the games in detail in the meeting. All the sports ministers gave a unanimous assurance of their support for continuing the games and they emphasised especially the economic and social significance as well as the issue of political image. The presidents of the national Olympic committees also spoke positively about the future of the games. It was stated very clearly that the Games of the Small States of Europe are the ideal platform for the top competitive sports players from the countries that take part. Sports Minister Hugo Quaderer said: "I am very pleased that we have taken the historic decision here in Liechtenstein to continue the Games of the Small States of Europe. The international sports competitions are very important in particular for promoting young athletes. This is also the strongest argument for continuing the games from the point of view of sports representatives and politics."
The program of the sports ministers and presidents of the national Olympic committees was rounded off with a reception at Vaduz Castle, a visit to the opening ceremony and then an official reception by the Government.
