CYPRUS AND SERBIAN NOC SIGNED A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING IN THE FIELD OF SPORT

The reinforcement of the mutual cooperation between the Serbian and the Cyprus Olympic Committees is included in the Memorandum of Understanding in the field of Sport signed on the 5th of November between the two NOCs at the Olympic House. The two Olympic Committees wish to further strengthen the cooperation with the signing of this memorandum by the President of the Cyprus NOC Hon. Prof. Ouranios M. Ioannides and the President of the Serbian NOC, the legend of world basketball Mr. Vlade Divac

The President of the Cyprus NOC said that "It is with great pleasure that we are hosting Mr. Vlade Divac in Cyprus. He is among the top international sport figures. He have signed the Memorandum of Understanding in the field of Sport with a special friend nation in our effort to expand the international relationships of our country and further improve the technical cooperation among the national federations of our countries for the benefit of sport. I am confident that by putting in practice the provisions of this memorandum we will produce superb results"

Mr Divac expressed his pleasure and satisfaction for his first ever visit in Cyprus emphasizing at the same time that this visit is not going to be the last one, since the relations of the two countries sports will be strengthened. He also quoted that "The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding in the field of Sport between our NOCs is no surprise, since here in Cyprus, we have many of our employed both athletes and coaches. He have followed extensive preparations before reaching this agreement and I am very happy that with it will help sport among in both countries to develop further at all levels. At the same time we expect that this agreement will help us achieve better results and earn more medals in big international competitions like Olympic games and Mediterranean games"

The Memorandum of Understanding in the field of Spots between the two NOCs contains among other the following provisions:

• Promoting the exchange of visits by Sport Delegations, Coaches, experts and Specialists in Sport and Physical Education and its applied Science through the direct contact with the concerned Sports Federations.
• Encouraging the exchange of invitations to athletes to participate in competitions and international sport events in both countries.
• Exchanging information and views on sports and physical activity-related issues as well as other areas of mutual interest.
• Exchanging invitations to attend meetings, conferences, lectures, seminars and academic forums on topics dealing with sports and physical culture held in both countries.
• Exchanging proposals of staging sport competitions based on the interests of national sports federations.  Participation and financial issues in such competitions are subject to the involved federations.
• Coordinating situations and views during world events.
  
  

The Serbian and the Cyprus NOC will also cooperate in the field of research and development on sports including:

• Sport for All programs
• Sports for Special needs
• Sports Medicine
• Doping Control
• Management and maintenance of sport facilities
• Training Camps
• Any other areas of cooperation agreed on.

For this reason the two NOCs will set up a joint committee to put in practice the provisions of the agreement. The joint committee will meet once a year in each country successively.

During his Visit in Cyprus the President of the Serbian NOC Mr. Vlade Divac and the Secretary General Mr. Djordje Visacki have visited several sport venues in Nicosia and Limassol escorted by officials of the Cyprus NOC. The agreement signed has a duration of four years.
